Can I Work Out with Hair Extensions?Yes, yes, and a thousand times YES! Hair extensions won’t get in the way of your workouts. But like any beauty investment, they do require a little extra TLC.

Here are our favorite tips to make sure sweat, heat, and movement don’t get in the way of your hair goals:


Gym-Friendly Tips

  • Go for a loose ponytail or braid: This helps reduce sweat buildup near the roots and minimizes friction where extensions are attached.

  • Use no-metal hair ties: These prevent breakage around your natural hair and extension bonds.

  • Dry your roots after working out: If your scalp gets sweaty, use a blow dryer on a cool or warm setting to gently dry the bond area. This keeps moisture and unwanted odors at bay.


What About Swimming?Yes, you can swim with extensions—just be strategic about it:

  • Always wear a snug braid or low bun before entering the water.

  • Rinse your hair with clean water before and after swimming: This helps reduce chlorine or salt absorption.

  • Wear a swim cap if possible, especially if you swim often.

  • Use leave-in conditioner before getting in the water to create a protective barrier.
